Winter Wall Decor Project
Gray skies, snow flurries, packed away Christmas decorations and unstrung lights? It must be January! While we might be a few weeks removed from the festive holiday season, it doesn’t mean winter has to be boring. Winter has packed us in and strapped us up tight. We’re on this trip for the next few months before a great thaw taps in and taps back out in October. Those gray skies can get old after awhile, but winter is actually quite beautiful! Those in states that avoid the threats of being snowed in and who don’t have to fret the snow chunk that’s flung into your boot and is saturating your…

September Project: Fall Inspiration
While I was hesitant to say “Au Revoir!” to summer because it was just way too much fun, I’m warming up quickly to the approaching fall season. Fall is my favorite, and I’m very fortunate and appreciative that I get to experience a healthy couple months of beautifully changing scenery here at home in Michigan. Fall is also a special time where memories of our engagement and marriage are celebrated and delightfully reminisced. I just love this time of year. Fall is also my favorite decorating season. There is nothing like a cozy home, and I believe fall endorses the comfort, companionship, and restfulness of a welcoming space. The…

Zesty Project: Whimsical Wall Décor
Everyone knows, subtle changes made to your living space can totally transform its vibe. A hung photograph, shrubbery, a cozy throw blanket, every little detail makes a tremendous difference in the story you are telling in your space. My living room has recently changed, and with it, my style. I had a clear plan for the blank wall space above my television, and all it took were a few flowers (surprise surprise) and some wall anchors. Keep reading to find out how I created the newest addition to my living room. I’ve always thought that someday when I get a house I want a backdrop wall. What’s that? Remember…

Bringing Zest to my Nest: Patio Edition
Hey All! It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a project with you, way too long! So today I’m sharing how I put some zest into my nest. Inspiration can be hard to come by when living in a small space, but thanks to nature’s bouquet, you can tackle a drab area and make it zesty. Our apartment is on the first floor, so we have a patio rather than a balcony. Other than our two folding chairs, the space is bare. Hubs and I sit out there and read sometimes but it’s not a super inviting lounge area since we don’t have the space for a nice patio set.…

March Project Recap: Desk Revamp
I may have inadvertently found a new hobby. As you guys know, I’ve been in the market for a new writing desk. For a full recap of my needs that led to this project, check out my pre-project post here. You guys saw the before pictures on that last post but here’s another look to refresh your memories before getting a look at the new (and improved) writing desk. Uhh, guys, I think I really like carpentry. I know I didn’t actually make something out of a hunk of wood, but I did spend several hours reworking that wood desk, and there was something oddly calming about it. If you lived…

March Project: Desk Revamp
There’s this deck that is less than 40 feet from touching the clear water of a lake that holds the most sacred places in my heart. It’s connected to a cabin that has been my family’s vacation destination for the same week in August for the past twenty years. It’s a familiar space with gorgeous views, and it has the capability to unleash floods of memories. If there ever was a place more conducive to productive thinking, I haven’t found it. That deck is my sweet spot for inspiration. Goals are made there; motivation is birthed. I write like crazy and even contrived the idea for my current mystery novel…

Valentine’s Project Recap
Well, that’s another Valentine’s Day in the books! It’s fun to dedicate one specific day to your loved one, to shake up the predictable monotony of a regular week and reflect on who you love and why you love them. Not only is it a time to show love to those family members, spouse, and friends that are special to you, but it’s also a beautiful reminder of the love that God has for us and we for Him. There’s a lot of love to spread around! My last Valentine’s post let you in on my plan to give my husband his own coffee bar for his Valentine’s gift.…

Valentines Project: You’re the Cream to my Java
Valentines Day. Yup, it’s coming up, and are you, dear reader, prepared? Those of you with significant others, do you find it’s really hard to come up with something for your sweetie that’s not cliché, ridiculously expensive, or something they already have? Here’s the trouble, it’s been just over a month since we pored ourselves into the Christmas season, prepared carefully the gifts our guy would open, and spent (in my house at least) a pretty penny to make it special. I love giving gifts and I like to go all out, but when you’re on a budget, being lavish hardly removed from the best gift-giving holiday can be tricky.…
