Q & A with Kayla: Halloween Edition

Hello! You might already know this if you’ve been around A Zesty Existence for awhile or you’ve checked out the “About Me” section on the blog, but if you’re new here, hi, I’m Kayla. Nice to meet you!

Since I haven’t done a Q and A before on the blog, I thought today might be a good time to share a little about me with you. Feel free to check out the video that goes along with this post below. Let’s get to it!

Where are you from?

I’m a born and raised Michigander. Currently Northern, but have lived all over the state.

What’s one of your memorable Halloween costumes?

Last year my husband and I were Chip and Joanna Gaines. Other honorable mentions are Napoleon Dynamite, a Cheeseburger fitted with a custom made bun from my Mom, and the Statue of Liberty.

What’s your status?

I’m married to my wonderful husband Zach.

Favorite cold weather beverage?

I love a French Vanilla Cappuccino or a Hot Chocolate (white hot chocolate or peppermint are my favorite). I haven’t converted to coffee…yet.

Are you a haunted house fan?

Absolutely not. I’ll brave the tamed family friendly ones, that’s about it.

What’s your favorite Halloween treat?

Cider donuts and frosted Rice Krispie treats are my favorite Fall desserts, but as far as Halloween candy goes, I love Twix, Kit-Kat, and plain ole Hershey bars.

When were you born?

I’m a November baby. Sometimes I share it with Thanksgiving.

What makes a good Fall day?

Time spent with family at the pumpkin patch after a breakfast at Big Apple Bagel, hot coco while driving around looking at the fall colors, carving pumpkins after a dinner of chili or soup, roasting marshmallows on a bonfire and finishing the night in blankets watching a movie.

Why did you start blogging?

I love to write, I even majored in Professional Writing in college, and personal finance is a major interest (obsession) of mine. Originally I wrote about my life as a homemaker and talked about projects that I was creating. I ended up transitioning to the current A Zesty Existence because I wanted to show that you can have a creative, fun, lovely life while living within your means. You can have a full life, a Zesty Existence, and be content at any stage within a budget. It might seem oxymoronic, I know, but it’s the truth. I love blogging about it!

Food you can’t get enough of?

Soup! I could eat soup everyday, and I usually do. Even in the summer. And I’ll never turn down Goldfish.

What is your favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving. I love watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and preparing for the yummy family dinner. Christmas is a close second.

Where did you graduate from College?

I graduated from Spring Arbor University, a small college in southern Michigan. It’s where I met Zach!

Halloween Movie Choice?

The Others is a Halloween movie favorite. I prefer a suspense film, nothing too spooky or gory.

Candy Corn fan or hate it?

I’m indifferent. I won’t seek it out, but if it’s sitting in a bowl in front of me I’ll indulge.

Top Halloween decorating tip?

Priority for me is to make my home cozy this time of year. I especially love scented candles or wax cubes to bring the smells of Fall inside. Add pumpkins, warm colors, and leaves to your decor and you’re all set for Fall or Halloween. You don’t need to buy a whole separate decor for October 31st, but adding some fake spider webbing is a fun way to spice up your already festive decor for the night.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about me. If you have anymore questions you’d like to ask, leave them in the comments and I can write or film a follow up to this post.
